Chardonnay barrique 2002
Szekszárd, although it is famous of its red wines, produces very nice white
wines as well, especially on the Eastern and Western slopes, where despite the
hot Szekszárd climate nice acids remain. Chardonnay is a very popular type and
it grows very well in Szekszárd. It rather belongs to the group of lighter wines
than to the full ones. The wine is pleasant for aperitif and with lighter meals. |

 |
Cserszegi fűszeres 2000
Dessert wine. The cserszegi fûszeres grape type is produced in a surprisingly
large amount in Szekszárd, and with a considerable success. Out of these one can
produce wines that bear the characteristics of their type and have a strong
fragrance. If you want to drink dessert wine, you will not be disappointed with
this one. It has an oily structure and it is very easy to drink a large amount
of; it is much more easily consumable than the sweet wines of Tokaj. It is
manufactured in a 0.5 liter bottle. |

Kékfrankos rosé 2005
The previous years have proven that excellent rosé wines are
being produced in Szekszárd. This rosé stands out with its comeliness; its acids
are vivid, it is pleasant both for aperitif and with fish. Rosé is not picked as
red wine, but as rosé, a little bit before it is fully ripened, when the acid
level drops below 7. This way a much fresher, tastier wine is produced than from
ripe grapes. Our expectations from a rosé is that it should spread freshness and
have a comely effect. We do not make the wine fizzy, only natural gas remains in
it. |

Badarka 2005
Badarka is the first wine of the season in Hungary made of kadarka, it is a
young gal among wines, with all the charm, comeliness and freshness that comes
with it. We tried to increase this freshness by producing the wine with a new
technology, fermenting in a cluster. We believe that this way the wine best
shows the velvety, spicy characteristic of the type and the vivid acids. It is
sold every year till the August of the next year. The wine undergoes a
transformation while it is fermenting in the bottle, but it does not lose its
spiciness even after 2 years. Kadarka is at home in Szekszárd, this has been the
“Hungarian red wine” in history; it has been produced in this country for 700
years. Once it had amounted to 60% of the country's vineyards, by today it has
unfortunately almost vanished. In Szekszárd it once had amounted to all the
vineyards, but by today it is grown only on 30 acres. We own 6.6 acres out of
this with our land on Castle Hill, which is one of the nicest contiguous kadarka
plantations - this is where the stock of our Kadarka is from. |

Kadarka 2003
Our company is one of, if not the biggest, quality Kadarka producers of Hungary.
We have a wide range of selection ranging from Badarka through Kadarka to
Kadarissimo. Due to the year 2003 this is a stronger wine than the Kadarka wines
usually are, it has a higher percentage of alcohol, weaker acids and mild
tannins. In spite of this, it is a well-consumable wine; it is excellent with
tomato-based dishes. It has a significantly higher percent of alcohol than the
usual Kadarka wines, but this is due to the exceptional year. It is made with a
similar method than Badarka, but we ferment it before bottling it, and put it
together with traditionally made Kadarka. |

Kékfrankos 2004
Kékfrankos is the most widespread red wine type in Hungary. In the last 15 years
it has regained its reputation, and it has become a recognized type again. This
wine, although it is the cheapest of our cellar, is considerably good quality.
According to one of the wine magazines it had the best price/value rate among
Kékfrankos wines in Hungary. The wine is on the margin between semi-dry and dry,
its sugar content is 5 grams/liter. It is well-consumable, the wine of weekday
evenings. |

 |
Bikavér 2004
Bikavér is one of the most important wines of Szekszárd. One of the wines that
serve as a basis for Szekszárdi Bikavér, is Kadarka, which sets the complexion
of the wine. We do not produce a dark, heavy wine, but rather a fiery
Szekszárdi, which is a half-heavy spicy wine that goes with all Hungarian meat
dishes. Bikavér is popular among consumers despite the fact that the name has
been discredited in the past few decades. Szekszárd, however, was left intact,
because the amount of Bikavér produced here was relatively low compared to all
the Bikavér wines produced in Hungary. We use ripe wines when producing Bikavér.
The ratio of Hungarian types reaches 70%, Kadarka amounts to more than 20%. |

Merlot 2004
One of the jewels of Szekszárd is Merlot; it grows very well in the wine region,
its ripening cycle suits the climate. The fully ripened fruit can then be used
to produce an excellent wine, which is more fruity or heavy, based on the place
of growth. This wine keeps its fruitiness despite the warm year of 2003, and
naturally
the heaviness characteristic of this year can also be found in it. A wine with
an excellent price/value rate. |

 |
Cabernet Franc Barrique Special Reserve 2004
The wine was produced from selected grapes growing on the most beautiful slopes
of Szekszárd. It was put into the bottle after
12 months of barrique fermentation. Financially it is one of the most successful
wines of our cellar; it is very popular among customers. It is characterized by
a fragrance that resembles forest fruits, long, strong taste and nice tannins.
The wine is considerably heavy and it has a very good price/value rate among
Cabernet Franc wines of the market. |
| | |
 |
Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
The Sauvignon grapes do not make a good wine every year and on
all slopes in Hungary. It gets ripe quite late, therefore it needs great care.
In Szekszárd, if it is handled this way, it makes an excellent wine. In the year
2003 this was especially true. A wine made from nicely ripened grapes, with
fruity fragrances, soft tannins, which is also due to the fact that only a small
percentage of the wine (20%) was fermented in oak barrels. In spite of this it
is a heavy wine, but one can make friends with it pretty easily. |
| | |
 |
Kadarissimo 2003
Kadarka
Our cellar has a wide range of Kadarka selection ranging from
Badarka through Kadarka to Kadarissimo. Kadarissimo is of course the best among
these wines. It is a wine produced with traditional fermenting from grapes
picked from the most beautiful part of the plantation on the castle hill. The
wine is a bit heavier and stronger in color than the other Kadarka wines of the
cellar but naturally in case of this wine we also emphasized the “Kadarka” spice
characteristics and we did not aim to strengthen its heaviness. |

 |
Kékfrankos selection 2003
A real Mediterranean Kékfrankos wine with a fiery fragrance and
taste, which is fundamentally different from the downright world of the Austrian
and Northern Hungary Kékfrankos wines. It is much more complex than those, one
can feel the sunshine on it. It is a moderately heavy wine, which was fermented
in old oak barrels in our cellar for 12 months. It is characterized by soft
tannins and strong, spicy fragrances. Its mildly cherry-like taste remains in
your mouth for a long time. Its alcohol content is 14%, which is uncommonly high
for a Kékfrankos wine. |

 |
Q 2003
One has to think a little when hearing this name. Its is an
uncommon name, but there is a reason to it. In this series it is the “After
Kékfrankos” wine, which in Hungarian is called “Kékfrankos utáni”, that is, KU,
which is pronounced as “Q”. It is a mix of grapes based on Kékfrankos, but not
the heaviness but the complexity is important in the wine. We wanted to produce
a well-drinkable wine that means great pleasure at the same time, which is based
in the Mediterranean kékfrankos of Szekszárd, but it is complemented by the more
robust world of the international types. The Sauvignon and Franc to be found in
it come from our plantation in Baranya valley. |

Obsessio 2003
Merlot
Hungary might not yet have discovered, but will surely get to
know the Merlot produced on the slope of Görögszó. This Merlot is not just extra
heavy even in the weaker years, but it also has an herbal characteristic that
makes it really special. Its extract was 38 after vintage and its alcohol
percent is also quite high, 15%. Still, it is its special fragrance that gives
the greatest pleasure. This wine has definitely to be decanted at a young age as
well, because it gives full pleasure after half an hour. |

Cabernet Sauvignon selection 2003
This utterly complex sauvignon, despite its obvious heaviness
is not dominated by how heavy it is. It is still a young wine, but in spite of
this it is well-consumable, its tannins are at the same time strong but not
disturbing. Its extract, which is around 40, shows well that it is not an
ordinary wine. In Szekszárd such quality in case of sauvignons that are a late
ripening type cannot be accomplished every year, moreover even in good years it
can be done only on exceptional slopes with a very small load. The quality of
the wine was rewarded with a silver medal at the Challenge International du Vin
wine festival in Bordeaux. |

Passionata 2003
Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc has a very good place in Szekszárd. We are able
to achieve an excellent result with it every year, even the cold ones. Its
ripening cycle is in harmony with the climate of the wine region, and the soil
is also appropriate for it. The wines become heavy and their extract is also
considerably high. This wine had an extract of 44 after vintage. This is
definitely the top wine of the cellar. It has an exceptionally intensive taste
and fragrance, a world of bitter chocolate, cappuccino, behind which one can
even find forest fruits. A heavy, thick wine, with an overall effect that
resembles Grandma's home-made jam. It became the wine of Hungarian ladies in
2004 and it received first prize in several wine festivals in Szekszárd where
2003 wines were evaluated. Its alcohol percentage is quite high as well, 15.5%.
The quality of the wine was rewarded with a golden medal at the Challenge
International du Vin wine festival in Bordeaux. |
